At WAA, our vision is to be the leading organization in our region for promoting and celebrating the arts.
We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive community that values creativity and artistic expression.
We fulfill our mission with art exhibits and shows, workshops, demonstrations, indoor and outdoor painting sessions,
as well as trips to regional art venues. By providing channels for networking and communication,
our members experience a creative environment for learning, sharing and building friendships.

Our informal paint-in sessions are free for members and held every Wednesday at
Bellinger Artworks Studio, 283B Koolabrew Drive NW, Calabash, North Carolina
Artists bring whatever projects they wish to work on and simply share the experience of painting together.
Classes and workshops taught by accomplished artists from across our region are offered monthly. Media include pastels, oil, acrylic and watercolor paints.

Members may hang 2 pieces of artwork per quarter at the Southwest Brunswick Branch Library or Rourk Library to display or sell. This is done on a quarterly basis starting in September, then December, March and June. Themes for South Brunswick this year include

Every spring the WAA hosts a show and sale for artists in our area. The exhibit is judged by a local artist and prizes are awarded.

Every year the WAA awards a college scholarship to a graduating high school student continuing in an arts education. in 2024 WAA awarded two scholarships!

WAA Members enjoy showing their art and engaging with the public at various community fairs,
from Calabash's Octoberfest to NEA's Big Read at the Southwest Brunswick Library.
Established in 1991, the WAA is a non-profit community art organization
that primarily supports the fine art of drawing and painting,
catering to a population of both amateur and professional artists.
We are supported by our membership fees, donations and grants made possible through the Brunswick Arts Council, North Carolina Arts Council, and many others.
Our studio is provided by the Bellinger Arts Studio.
Our Monthly General Membership meetings are held at 10:30 on the third Wednesday of each month from September to May, excluding December.
